Dave Lowry is headed to the NHL and will no longer be the head coach of the Victoria Royals.
The Royals announced on Tuesday that Lowry has accepted an assistant coaching position with the LA Kings of the NHL and joins a staff that has John Stevens as the head coach.
Lowry says he is grateful for his time in Victoria and is excited for the Royals future as well as his own:
"I'll look back and know that this team {Royals} are in a great spot, we put a lot of time and a lot of effort into it and it made for a very enjoyable experience."
Lowry spent five seasons in Victoria (2012-13 thru 2016-17). He departs as the franchise’s all-time winningest coach, amassing a regular season record of 199-112-13-9.
The Royals qualified for the playoffs every year under Lowry’s leadership, setting the franchise record with 21 playoff victories.
