You may not be done with all those holiday treats and calorie rich drinks. New Year's is just around the corner.
For most of us, we tend to gain weight between mid-November and the New Year, not to mention all the sugar and treats can lower our immune systems, create general sluggishness and make it hard to think clearly.
Victoria Naturopath, Dr. Natasha Montroy says when it comes to holiday drinks, instead of just wine, why not make it into a spritzer by adding soda water, or alternate a beer followed by a glass of water.
"Maybe if you're going to have a beer, maybe try to have a vodka on the rocks so the calories are going to be lower. So, vodka martini, or vodka with carbonated water, the calories go from about 80 or 90 calories to beer to an average, depending on the size and whether it is a stout beer, to about 170 or 180 calories."
Montroy says you can save some calories by starting your day with a protein-rich breakfast and having a healthy meal before you head out to that holiday buffet.
