The Victoria Cruise Industry Alliance is hosting its second annual job fair is today at Ogden Point’s Pier B. More than 600,000 cruise passengers are expected to come ashore at Ogden Point, creating even more summer jobs. On average, passengers spend $83 in Victoria, while ship crews spend approximately $113.
"We know that we have over 800 positions currently filled by local Victorians here at the cruise ship terminal. We had 75 positions available advertised but that number is actually closer to 200.” That is Andrew Capaeu, lead Organizer of the Victoria Cruise Industry Alliance job fair, he says positions available range from front-line customer service workers to skilled trades.
This year, 264 ship arrivals and over 700,000 cruise passengers are expected to arrive in Victoria through Ogden Point.
Those interested should bring a resume to Ogden Point at the Western Stevedoring building at 185 Dallas Rd. on Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
