Recent heavy rains have caused storm water and wastewater overflows along some of the beaches in Greater Victoria.
Areas to avoid are between Rutland and Seaview including Cadboro Bay, between Trafalgar Park and Radcliffe lane including McNeil Bay, and between Fraser and Victoria View rd in Esquimalt. Residents in those areas are advised for themselves and their pets to avoid entering the water as the wastewater may pose a health risk.
The CRD released a statement saying "As a precaution and in consultation with Island Health and the local municipalities, beaches within the affected areas will be posted with public health advisory signs until sample results indicate enterococci levels are below the 70CFU/100mL recreational limit."
Advisory signs will be posted at beach access points until water is confirmed safe to enter.
