You may notice a strange taste and smell when drinking water in Greater Victoria -- but Capital Regional District Water servives says it's still okay to drink.
In a news release they say higher-than-normal levels of total coliform bacteria in Sooke Lake Reservoir, the prime drinking water source for the Greater Victoria, has forced increased disinfection.
As such you may detect a slight chlorine taste and smell until the naturally occuring bacteria subside to more normal levels.
CRD staff are monitoring the quality and safety of the water closely and will keep the public informed of any changes in water quality.
