The CRD has written a letter to Federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau, asking for some clarity on how municipalities on coastal waters should proceed when dealing with derelict boats. CRD Director Marianne Alto tells CFAX 1070’s Mark Brennae they didn’t want to let the Feds off the hook. “Mr. Garneau this is a big issue and we would like you to consider what your responsibilities are so we can consider what’s reasonable for a local government to do.”
Alto says this is a big issue not just on the west coast but also on the east coast.
The city of Victoria is still proceeding with their efforts to remove derelict boats in the Gorge waterway.
