A final plan to manage Island View Beach Park is being considered by the Capital Regional District’s parks committee.
The controversial management plan is in its fourth and final stage with a final plan after two stages of public consultation.
There are some big changes from the draft plan as the final plan calls for beach access points, new off trail access and a new wet land loop trail.
It also allows more access for horse riders and dogs to run off-leash-- two issues of contention in the consultation stage.
The final plan also identifies an ecological restoration area where the draft plan didn't specify any area.
The management plan for Island View Beach has seen opposition from two sides. There are many residents wanting the park to stay accessible for recreational uses and while the other side wants more environmental protection.
The CRD has released the final plan on its website two weeks before the committee is set to discuss it on November 16.
