As expected, a motion to send 2 staff and 3 CRD Committee chairs to tour Integrated Waste management sites in Europe was rejected by both the CRD's Environment Services Committee, and the CRD Board Wednesday.
CRD Board Chair Barb Desjardins says directors don't need a trip to get answers to key questions:
"And some of those key questions are: How does what we've learned impact our procurement; What are out criteria for evaluating proposals coming forward; Are we certain how much land we need or where the facilties will be cited; How much experience do we expect proponents to bring to the table; What are some of the impacts to communtiites surrounding these facilties..."
The journey would have cost over $42,000 -- or $85-hundred per person.
