Cowichan Secondary School is not commenting on an anonymous threat received through social media that some say involved a gun.
Officials confirmed on Facebook this morning a threat was received, and reported to RCMP. The threat has been been deemed "low-level" so the school is open today. However, RCMP will be at the school for the day.
The school's posting also states the safety of students and staff is the top priority and they take any potential threat extremely seriously.
While the nature of the threat has not been revealed, some students and parents commenting on the Facebook site say it involved the threat of someone bringing a gun to class.
Many are angry the school got the threat Thursday, but did not notify parents until just before school let in on Friday.
