Saanich police are warning residents around Willis Point road to be on the lookout after a cougar was spotted in the 300 block last night around 11 pm.
Constable Corey Scott says the cougar was approximately 3 feet tall and was seen crouched near the side of the roadway by Willis Point Rd at 10:50 pm Saturday night.
Area residents are advised to use caution while walking in the area and to secure small pets.
Saanich Police had earlier received a report of a black bear sighting in the 1600 block of Charlton Rd. BC Conservation was advised of the incident.
The bear was sighted shortly after 8 p.m. Friday. It was not displaying any signs of aggression, however, area residents are advised to use caution while walking in the area and to secure small pets.
BC Conservation has been advised of both these sightings.
