School officials are using caution after a cougar was spotted near two View Royal schools Monday morning.
View Royal elementary and Eagle View Elementary are under 'hold and secure' until further notice.
View Royal Principal Reid Jorgensen says the report came from a neighbour who called police:
" We contacted West Shore RCMP and they were on site for quite a bit of the morning, and conservation officers have been contacted. We have kept students inside just as a precaution."
Jorgensen says conservation officers have spoken to the woman who reported the big cat and have told Jorgensen it appears to be a legitimate sighting. The hold and secure was listed just before the lunch hour.
