A proposal to lower the fence around William Head prison from 4 metres to 1.25 will be reviewed. That news this morning from the Corrections Service of Canada.
Jean-Paul Lorieau, Pacific Region Manager of Communications for the CSC says consultation is being done with the Mayor of Metchosin, and there will be formal community consultation prior to any final decision. As such, the office says at this point in time there is no decision to proceed with the project.
Metchosin Mayor John Ranns is meeting with prison officials today to learn more after hearing about the proposed change through the media.
