A controversial development proposal for Cook Street and Oliphant Avenue in Victoria is once again going to public hearing stage. Council voted 7-2 in favour of a public hearing.
Councilor Ben Isitt says it's time for this project to move forward, one way or the other. “This project has been debated for 3 years, it’s time to close the chapter on this project either by having it proceed or having it rejected.”
A revised plan saw the height of the building dropped by 3 metres. The new proposal also includes a redesigned ground floor at the request of neighbours which will only include one commercial tenant, down from six. Some of the other changes include more rental space and a new open site green space.
