While construction of Victoria's Fort Street bike lanes is well underway, the City of Victoria is looking at other emerging concepts for transport infrastructure in the downtown core.
Public consultation begins Monday, November 27th for more opportunities for bike lanes including Cook, Humboldt and Wharf Streets.
Sarah Webb is the City of Victoria's Active Transportation Project Manager says the designs come after considerations to alternative routes.
"As we look at Cook, Humboldt and Wharf Streets, there are some really great opportunities, not only to integrate new bike lane infrastructure but also to be able to enhance accessibility, to improve the pedestrian experience and the street scape. So, we are still in the early phases of consultation and design and what we have available for people is to be able to come and take a look at what we are thinking, what are some of the emerging concepts, what are some of the tradeoffs and impacts of different decisions."
Webb says there are several options for providing feedback over the coming weeks, including on-street discussions and a public open house December 7th at the Victoria Conference Centre.
