The city of Victoria says it will now take action against any pot dispensary that has not applied for a business license or rezoning.
The grace period of 60 days for compliance with the city regulations is now over.
Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps says the city will now be launching legal proceedings against any marijuana retailer that hasn't applied for a business license or a rezoning under rules that took effect last November. "We are serious about this, we have rules and we expect them to be followed. If you are legitimate business you are going to follow the rules. For those who don't, we will be cracking down."
To date, 33 cannabis retailers have applied for a business license and 23 have applied for rezoning.
16 pot shops have yet to apply for rezoning or a business license.
