An Edmonton cat that mistakenly "moved" to Vancouver Island 3 weeks ago will be returned to her owner this weekend.
"Diva" got into a neighbour's moving truck earlier this month, spending an estimated 72 hours inside the vehicle without food or water before being discovered during the unloading procedure in Duncan.
Andy is Diva's owner:
" And I noticed that my cat was missing. And I was looking for her for a couple of days, going outside calling her name. I was about to put posters up,and then my neighbour texted me and told me my cat was in her moving van."
A network of animal lovers flew into action formulating plans to get Diva home. The group FLED - or Finding Lost and Escaped Dogs... and cats ... has been organizing the trip.
Jill Oakley says 2 Diva, living up to her name, will head home in style after 2 West Jet employees volunteered to take the roving feline back in the passenger section of the plane.
" Right now we're in touch with a couple of people who work for West Jet, and they are going to make arrangements, I'm not sure exactly when. I believe one of the gals works for WestJet so they can fly standby"
Diva could be Edmonton-bound by Saturday.
Oakley says Vancouver Island has an amazing community of animal lovers who always step up to help wayward pets.
