Minister Claire Trevena directs staff to look into ways to honour Rob Patterson
The Ministry of Transportation confirms it has received a request suggesting a stretch of Highway 1 and the Malahat be renamed to "Patterson Pass."
In a statement the ministry acknowledges former Fire Chief Rob Patterson dedicated his professional career to selflessly helping others around Highway 1 and the Malahat village, and was an important and crucial advocate for installation of median barriers and increased enforcement.
The statement also confirms Minister Claire Trevena has directed staff to look into ways to honour Patterson and the important role he played in making the highway safer.
The ministry says it will have more information to share in the coming months.
