When the icebreaker Polar Prince sails into Victoria Harbour tomorrow (Sat) morning, it will be the end of a remarkable 150 day, 23-thousand kilometre journey.
Expedition leader Geoff Green says the "C3 tour" -- or coast-to-coast-to-coast tour -- celebrates Canada's 150th, and the nation's connection to the sea:
"It's been so obvious every single day on this journey that we are an ocean nation. Perhaps the greatest on the planet. Practically 2 months of our 5 month journey was spent on the Arctic coastline, which is our biggest coastline"
Greens says the journey started in Toronto and headed to Victoria via the Northwest Passage.
The ship arrived in Todd Inlet today (Fri) and arrives in Victoria harbour between 11:00 and 11:30 tomorrow (Sat) for a big celebration with the public, including music. They are also offering ship tours on Sunday.
