Saanich Police say a bear has been rummaging through garbage cans in an area around West Saanich Road and Wallace Drive.
Saanich Police say a bear has been rummaging through garbage cans in an area around West Saanich Road and Wallace Drive.
Police say they had several reports Sunday night from residents in that area, not far from the Red Barn on West Saanich. A large black bear had been hanging around various yards.
Officers themselves never saw the bear when they responded and the bear wasn't reported to be aggressive, so Conservation Officers have not been called. However, police are using the opportunity to urge people in that area to keep their distance and report sightings.
