When students head back to school in a few weeks, their backpacks will include the usual paper, pencils and pens, as well as the latest electronic devices.
And along with the three "R's" they'll be learning about electronic privacy.
BC's Information and Privacy Commissioner says teachers will be delivering four privacy awaerness lesson plans. Three of the plans are designed for grades 6 to 9. The fourth plan targets high school students in grades 9 to 12.
Michael McEvoy says his office will be offering support to teachers by offering the modules for use in their classrooms and by doing so they want students to know privacy is a fundamental value.
The lesson plans incorporate videos, class discussions and exercises to introduce students to privacy principles.
