The BC government has chosen to keep wages low and to keep workers in poverty.
That from the president of the BC Federation of Labour, an organization calling for an increase in the province's minimum wage.
Representatives of the BC Fed will be at the BC legislature Wednesday to deliver more than 56,000 signatures of British Columbians they say support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour to lift half a million low wage workers above the poverty line.
The petitions will be tabled in the Legislature by Official Opposition Leader, John Horgan Wednesday afternoon.
BC Federation of Labour President, Irene Lanzinger says the abject failure of Premier Clark's government to tackle poverty and growing inequality is symbolic of the choices the BC Liberals have made.
Lanzinger pledges her organization will continue to make this an issue in the coming weeks.
