The City of Victoria is still working out plans to give the Point Ellice Bridge, better known as the Bay Street Bridge, a major facelift. But it's already affecting a BC Transit route.
In advance of the anticipated work the #14 Vic General/UVic bus began detouring this morning. BC Transit says it had to start the detour now in order to integrate into the spring schedule.
The route 10 James Bay/Royal Jubilee will be detoured when construction begins later this spring.
The exact date and timeline for the work is not yet available. A statement from City Hall says they will confirm once all plans are firmed up.
The 61 year old bridge is slated for a more than $3.6 million facelift -- including upgrades to expansion joints, concrete abutments, the road deck, pedestrian handrails and light standards
