Bus route already affected as Victoria City Hall firms up construction plans
The City of Victoria is still working out plans to give the Point Ellice Bridge, better known as the Bay Street Bridge, a major facelift. But it's already affecting a BC Transit route.
In advance of the anticipated work the #14 Vic General/UVic bus began detouring this morning. BC Transit says it had to start the detour now in order to integrate into the spring schedule.
The route 10 James Bay/Royal Jubilee will be detoured when construction begins later this spring.
The exact date and timeline for the work is not yet available. A statement from City Hall says they will confirm once all plans are firmed up. The 61 year old bridge is slated for a more than $3.6 million facelift -- including upgrades to expansion joints, concrete abutments, the road deck, pedestrian handrails and light standards
