Island Health has contained an area of Victoria General Hospital because of a couple confirmed cases of the Norovirus on Friday.
Spokesperson for Island Health Meribeth Burton says they have prevention control measures at the 6th floor of the North Tower.
“This is a highly contagious fecal to oral transmission and so we have put in infection control measures in place. We can say that both patients and hospital staff have been infected.”
The hospital is asking any guests looking to visit patients there to mask and glove up in that area where signage has been put up to warn people.
Island Health is asking children and anyone who is sick to not visit that area of the hospital until at least Wednesday of next week.
As of March 8, there were over 200 cases of the virus being investigated by Public Health Agency of Canada in B.C.
