Advance voting opens Tuesday, January 22, and runs through Sunday, January 27 in the Nanaimo provincial by-election.
Voters are choosing a new MLA after former NDP MLA Leornard Krog resigned following last October's municipal election when he won the Nanaimo Mayor's Chair.
The riding is considered an NDP stronghold, but with a fragile NDP-Green alliance in the legislature political pundits are watching this one closely.
Eligible voters must be a resident of the Nanaimo electoral district, be 18 or older by January 30th, must be a Canadian citizen, and a resident of British Columbia since July 29, last year.
Voters should check that the preferred advance voting place is open, as they won't all be open every day of advance polling. A list of voting places and dates can be found on the Elections BC website at List of voting places.
Voters may also refer to their 'Where to Vote' card, or use Elections BC’s 'Where to Vote' application to find voting places close to them. The application can be found at elections.bc.ca/wtv.
The hours for advance and general voting places are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and all advance voting places are wheelchair accessible.
Don't forget to bring your Where to Vote card and ID with you to vote. A list of acceptable voter ID is available at elections.bc.ca/id.
Election day is set for Wednesaday, January 30.
