It's a tough day for a Saanich parent whose baby girl turns 3 years old today. Tasha Brown's daughter, Kaydance Paige Etchells, was 19 months old when she was abducted by Brown's estranged wife, Lauren Etchells, in May 2016. A Canada Wide Warrant was issued Etchells, who took the girl overseas.
In April 2016 Etchells disobeyed a court order and obtained a Canadian Passport for Kaydance, by lying to Passport Canada.
The next month she, the baby, along with Lauren's new partner, Marco van der Merwe and their new born child Marcus, flew from Vancouver to London, England.
Saanich Police Detectives have been working closely with Interpol, the RCMP National Centre for Missing Persons, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection and the BC Criminal Justice Branch to bring Kaydance home.
It's believed Marco van der Merwe is in the Netherlands. Detectives are attempting to locate him in hopes that he can provide valuable information about the whereabouts of Kaydance and Lauren.
Tasha Brown has a Facebook page dedicated to helping find Kaydance ( www.facebook.com/whereintheworldisKaydance).
She has also posted a video to YouTube appealing to residents of the Netherlands to be on the lookout for Kaydance, Etchells and van der Merwe, and offering a 7-thousand Euro reward (over $10,000 Canadian) for information leading to her daughter's return.
