Esquimalt Fire and Rescue and Hazmat crews were called out early Friday afternoon to respond to a possible chemical leak.
Assistant Fire Chief, Ray Saurette says when they arrived, they determined that, "employees were in the process of doing some cleaning and they mixed a couple of chemicals together, which created a chlorine gas situation in the restaurant."
Saurette says employees were overcome by the fumes and were evacuated.
Some employees had issues with irritants to the eyes, but there were no major injuries.
The Hazmat team is doing an internal investigation and is taking air samples.
