Hundreds of supporters turned out for the 9th Stolen Sisters Memorial march Sunday in downtown Victoria.
About 600 people gathered at Our Place and marched down Government Street to the B.C. legislature to remember indigenous girls and women who have died or gone missing in Canada.
MLA Carol James says there is a sense that things are shifting with the start of an independent national public inquiry. "It has never been more important as we see the inquiry into missing women start, for all of us in our community to stand up and say enough."
Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit drummers and singers lead the emotional march.
