The 5th annual Wounded Warrior Run BC launched early Monday morning in Port Hardy.
Six runners are braving the elements in the week long, relay-style fundraiser for soldiers wounded or injured in their service to Canada.
Jacqueline Zweng, the director of the non-profit organization, says the six team members have a busy schedule over the next seven days, running the length of Vancouver Island.
"Anywhere between 120 and 160 kms a day as a team. Every day we stop at Legion Halls, community centres and fire halls to share stories and talk about what we're doing."
The team consists current serving military members, veterans, first responders and civilians.
Runners this year are Jacqueline Zweng, Steve Deschamps, Matt Carlson, Allan Kobayashi, Brett Malcolm, Chris Loran, Bernice Smith, Simon Brown and Mark Dankwerth.
The goal for the 2018 Wounded Warrior Run BC is $100-thousand dollars.
Money raised will help fund a variety of initiatives, including the new WWC PTSD Service Dog Program.
If you'd like to show your support, the finish line in Victoria is at the BC Legislature Building (Superior Street side via Menzies Street) Sunday, February 25th from 3:45 to 4:45 pm.
