BC Conservation officers were busy Friday, they had to put 2 black bears down, one in Sooke in the morning and one in central Saanich around 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
Conservation officer Scott Norris says the bears became habituated to humans. "We try to let bears get out of town on their own but the ones who stick around are the ones we end up having to euthanize."
Norris also says the cougar spotted in the Royal Roads University area has also been spotted around the Colwood golf course. "It still is a risk to the public based on the behaviour it has exhibited and we'd like to catch it before anything else bad does happen to it."
Norris says if you do run into a cougar be sure to let it know you're not prey.
