The owners of a Nanaimo area farm are hoping whoever stole a dwarf baby goat when they opened their property as a petting zoo Saturday will bring it back, no questions asked.
Justin Dault owns Yellow Point Farms in Ladysmith. On Saturday he and his wife welcomed about 50 visitors on their property to see their large herd of breeding goats -- for an event they call for "goat snuggles."
But when the event wrapped up, a baby was missing. Dault says the tiny goat was contained in a pen, and couldn't have gotten out.
The baby needed to be with its mother, and twin for another 6 weeks -- and he is afraid it won't survive if not brought back. Dault tells us what the baby looks like:
" Yeah, it's a Nigerian dwarf baby goat. It would look, it's about 3 to 5 pounds, um, it's only 12 days old. It looks like a little kitten, it's really small . It's gold with black moon spots on it., and it has blue eyes."
The mother goat is so frantic she is partially neglecting her other baby as she searched for the lost baby.
Police are involved. Many of those at the event are sharing their photos in the hopes it will help. A photo of the missing kid is on our website.
