THIRD READING PASSED ON JUAN DE FUCA RURAL RESOURCE LAND BYLAW
Feb 11, 2010
THE JUAN DE FUCA RURAL RESOURCE BYLAW HAS PASSED THIRD READING AND WILL NOW PROCEED TO RATIFICATION INTO LAW
THE BYLAWS SET MINIMUM LOT SIZES AT 120 HECTARES AND ALLOW FOR ONE SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING PER LAND UNIT AND ONE SECONDARY SUITE OR DETACHED SUITE
HOWEVER GORDON O'CONNOR FROM THE DOGWOOD INITIATIVE SAYS THIS DOESN'T PROTECT ALL LAND IN THE AREA FROM BEING DEVELOPED
"the catch here is that the 120 hectares are for everything that's outside of Jordan River and outside of Shirley and Otter point. So everything that's inside those communities, is still very much up for grabs by developers. And that's the 61 lots inside those communities, and it's a tragedy that so many landowners have been put in a tough spot by this shift in the by-laws and that tragedy has been created, most directly by the provincial government"
O'CONNOR WAS A GUEST ON CFAX 1070 WITH MURRAY LANGDON THURSDAY MORNING
