NO-2010 VICTORIA PLANS OPPOSING TORCH RELAY CELEBRATION
Oct 20, 2009
THE VICTORIA TORCH RELAY KICKOFF IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER....BUT THOSE WHO OPPOSE THE EVENT ARE GOING TO HAVE THEIR OWN FUN THAT DAY.
THE EVENT IS CALLED THE "POVERTY GAMES" AND IT'S BEING PLANNED BY NO-2010 VICTORIA.
IT WILL MAKE FUN OF THE OLYMPICS AND THE PRIORITIES IMPOSED ON THE COMMUNITIES HERE.
ZOE BLUNT SPOKESPERSON FOR NO-2010 SAYS IT'S THEIR OWN VERSION OF THE OLYMPICS...
"they are the poverty games where people can jump through hoops to get welfare, shopping cart races and wrestling and we'll have costumes as well and street theatre with giant puppets including a zombie salmon."
BLUNT SAYS THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS BEING WASTED ON ONE DAY IN THIS CITY COULD HAVE GONE SO FAR AMONGST COMMUNITY GROUPS.
"it would be infinite wealth and it's being spent on a corporate sponsored event, why is that happening, we were not consulted."
THE EVENT TAKES PLACE AT CENTENNIAL SQUARE ON OCTOBER 30TH.
