Rifflandia Music Festival causes rift

September 15, 2013 10:23 from John Spurr

The 2013 Rifflandia Music Festival didn't garner complete city wide praise as noise complaints rained into police switchboards for 3 evenings.

Saanich Police Sergeant Dean Jantzen reported that they had to bring in an additional dispatch worker to help handle all the phone traffic.

Rifflandia organizers did keep within the limits set by the Parks Department and the city, by finishing shows at Royal Athletic Park by 9pm every night and by keeping the decibel level under 90 throughout the festival.

This was the 6th Rifflandia festival and was also the largest one to date, with over 4000 attendees.
