More details known about alleged sexual assaults at Esquimalt Pool

August 09, 2012 05:45 from

Victoria Police have released more details about a disturbing incident at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre.

A 47 year old View Royal man has been arrested after complaints were received about a man inappropriately touching young boys at the pool.  Mike Tucker with the Victoria Police says the department is grateful for the watchful eyes of the recreation centre staff.

"It looked like there were two incidents that occurred Wednesday night that were unreported.  The young boys, I guess, went home and maybe made the disclosures to their parents.  Credit to the Esquimalt Rec Centre, they took immediate action and then we began investigating.  It turns out that the suspect returned to the pool today, or someone who loosely matched his description, and the Esquimalt Rec Centre staff kept an eye on him and there was actually another offence that occurred during that time and immediately he was pulled out of the pool and Vic-PD came and arrested him."

Charges of sexual assault have been laid.

No further details have been revealed about the suspect.
