Layritz girls disappointed with finish, but proud of World Series run

August 19, 2012 07:15 from

The Layritz girls team was unable to put the finishing touches on their impressive run at the Junior Softball World Series.

The girls went 4-1 in Kirkland, Washington to earn their way into the finals matchup yesterday against West Nanuka. The Alaskan team, though, mustered up five runs in the first two innings, and Layritz never recovered in a 6-2 defeat.

Manager Paul Tucker says the girls were a bit down after the loss, but the team is proud of their accomplishment in becoming the first Canadian representative to ever reach the tournament finals.
